Downloadable game review: Lost City of Malathedra
The Lost City of Malethedra has promise as a graphic adventure game. The trailers heralding its arrival are excellent and do the job of making potential buyers curious to at least try it. The graphics of the game from indie developer Ethereal Darkness are good. The company boasts of no digital rights management for the average, honest player’s enjoyment. The music is fun, the type to keep your heart beating throughout the game. The story is explained in an engaging way to prepare the player.
It’s a quest game where you get to choose which character’s role to assume. The female character is Rebecca, a twenty-six year old historian with a doctorate, who Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsDownloadable game review: Hawaiian Explorer: Lost Island, by Iwin – Part 1
1/5
Let me start by saying that you made the right choice in looking at a review prior to buying this game.
Hawaiian Explorer: Lost Island is an “I Spy With My Little Eye” game. You get a list of objects to find on the screen, and you click them as you find them. This game does very little aside from that. There are some small minigames, but they’re horrendously boring and nothing about them is explained to you before you start it, meaning the clock is ticking down as you’re stuck just trying to figure out what to do.
The storyline is decent at best. Some old man wants to find a secret island in Hawaii, and you’re forced to do all Read the rest of this entry »

Limewire is a great tool for finding all the obscure and popular songs you could want, note you should only download songs that you already own in another format such as cd otherwise it is copyrigth infringement
. Limewire is fantastic. I downloaded it last Christmas for my new MP3 player. It took around 1hour in total to download, but I suspect that it would be much quicker if you have a better PC than mine. LimeWire.com is one of the biggest file sharing softwares available on the net. It allows users to download songs, videos and other files with a click of the mouse. Is there a new song out that you have been dying to hear a thousand Read the rest of this entry »
Which video game console is better: XBox 360 or PlayStation 3? – Part 1
This is a long debated battle. We have the Play Station 3, with excellent graphics, and the XBox 360, with the popular XBox Live. I personally like the XBox 360 better. It has better games and better graphics. Have you ever played Guitar Hero 3 or MLB 2K7 or even Halo 3 on it?
On XBox Live, you can go against anybody on virtually any game. You can go against people in guitar battles. You can play Slayer against people on Halo 3, and everything else like that. You can get achievements, which you get, say you get a perfect on a song on Guitar Hero. You can get Microsoft points to buy music videos, Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsToys for helping children read
Action speaks louder than words is a phrase we heard many times as we were growing up undoubtedly. It applies to helping children read. Books that involve the child in doing will teach reading better than those that don’t. A good example of this is the early books that have a child zip a zipper, button a button, snap a snap or the pop up books that give them a tab to pull and they are rewarded by something popping up on the page or out of the page.
Books for an older child that can involve them in a science project. I remember one which involved trapping bugs in an almost buried container to examine and release, bark rubbing, using an Read the rest of this entry »

No CommentsVideo game reviews: The X
The X-Files: Resist or serve was the second game that I got for my Playstation 2 (Tetris Worlds was given to me when I received the console for my 19th birthday). As soon as I was given the playstation 2, I went on Ebay and bought this X-Files game for $10. I had heard about it years before, and already had the old PS1 game, so I had to have Resist or Serve.
The X-Files: Resist or serve is the second game that the Creators of the X-Files have put out (the first was the above mentioned ps1 game, which also came out as a PC game). Resist or Serve is set sometime during the seventh season of the television show, Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsDownloadable game reviews: County Fair
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
What could be more fun than controlling how others have fun? County Fair offers you this chance as an aging fair mogul with a crumbling empire must revive the ailing family business by passing it over to you, the last descendant. With remarkably crisp backgrounds and graphics not too cartoonish to be limited to a children’s game, County Fair pleases both the eye and the ear. Traditional fair music gets a pleasant facelift for this game, which makes sifting through the menagerie of rides, food stands and game stalls sort of like being at a real fair.
The game functions are easy to understand, with a helpful assistant at the beginning to show you the ropes. Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsDownloadable game review: Crayon Physics Deluxe – Part 1
Crayon Physics Deluxe is a brilliantly innovate, completely engrossing puzzle game with game play and graphics that easily warrant a 5/5 rating. I would recommend Crayon Physics Deluxe to gamers of all skill levels as well as students from kindergarten to college physics. This game simultaneously challenges the player’s creativity, coordination, and physics intuition. Even with so many skills involved, the game never feels intense or stressful. Working on the puzzles provides both relaxation and intellectual stimulation.
The premise of this game involves drawing objects in “crayon” using the mouse on your computer or the stylus on your tablet PC. The objects you draw are then allowed to interact according to the laws of physics. Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsVideo game reviews: NHL 2k9 (Wii)
NHL 2k9 is the most recent installment in the 2k Sports series of hockey games for the Nintendo Wii. This is the first hockey game to fully take advantage of the new and exciting motion technologies used by the Wii. Many of the common hockey moves are performed by the gamer using different motions, rather than the buttons on the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
I just recently received a copy of 2k9 for Christmas, and let me first say that it did not disappoint. Although the controls are difficult to master, they become quite intuitive after a few minutes of game play. In order to take a slap shot, the gamer must make an exaggerated motion as if he were doing Read the rest of this entry »
